Movie Night for Adults: Thor: Ragnarok

Calling all movie lovers 18 years and older! Bring your ID, a blanket or lawn chairs and join BREC for an adults-only movie (Rated PG-13 or R). The movie will be shown inside the ballroom with popcorn and punch. For those with children ages 4-17, please fell free to enjoy activities in the Interactive Game Room inside while you enjoy the movie.

Saturnian Opposition

Saturn will be exactly 180 degrees from the Sun, rising as the Sun is setting. We will then be the closest to Saturn this year! The ringed beauty (on this date in the constellation Sagittarius) is always a delight. Sometimes a viewer can spy contrasts in the upper cloud deck, as well as the largest moon Titan.

Asteroid Day

The Baton Rouge Astronomical Society is helming this special event focusing origins of asteroids, how to view them with binoculars and the potential dangers they pose to Earth. There will be a variety of asteroid-oriented physical science demonstrations, experiments and videos! Right before closing a telescope will aim at the asteroid Vesta!
