BREC's Farr Park Equestrian center is proud to offer guided trail rides on select Saturdays and Sundays. Enjoy a one-hour gentle ride through the park or in the indoor arena on one of the BREC horses.

Come explore everything Lego! There will be a different Lego challenge each week given to the children, whether it is building an actual Lego figurine, or an arts and crafts to engage the children’s creative thinking. All materials are supplied by BREC and not taken home by children.

Adults will meet for half hour of “coffee talk” and then ride for one hour. Learn about horses, riding, care of the horse and more in a fun and relaxed environment. Coffee and snacks will be provided.

“Cadets” are brought into the wonderful world of astronomy. They explore gravity, simple machines, stars, planets, meteors, the Earth and the Moon, asteroids and comets, the electromagnetic spectrum and the American space program! Each session is stand-alone, but your child will want to attend again and again.

InSight Landing Party

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory has sent word to HRPO that InSight will land on Mars at 1:54pm CST on this day. As is tradition, HRPO will host a party celebrating yet another NASA accomplishment! Solar viewing (weather permitting) along with Martian activities and demonstrations will take place. A live feed from NASA will show the wait within the control room.

For over 20 years, this program has given patrons histories and possible futures. Skygazing tips, physics phenomena, space programs and famous events are covered.

Led by a member of the Baton Rouge Audubon Society (BRAS), visitors enjoy a morning hike through the forest and swamp while identifying various bird species. Bird-watching techniques and identification tips are also discussed. Beginners are welcome.
