Dive into BREC’s Inclusive Aquatic Classes
Adult Interactive Paddle Up and Aquatic Exercise offered throughout summer
BREC offers new programming this summer for adults with disabilities at Liberty Lagoon Family Aquatics Center, 111 Lobdell Ave. Adult Interactive Paddle Up and Aquatic Exercise are both offered in June and July. Adult Interactive Paddle Up is an engaging class that teaches participants how to paddle a sea kayak. Classes take place on Saturday, June 11 and July 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Liberty Lagoon. Participants must at least 17-years-old. Class is limited to 16 participants and pre-registration is required. The fee is $16 per person and the class is designed for adults with mental or developmental disabilities. This program is sponsored by The Backpacker and The Dermatology Clinic.
Adult Interactive Aquatic Exercise increases muscle strength, movement and coordination. Classes take place Mondays and Wednesdays June 13 - July 20, from 8 - 9 a.m. Participants must be at least 17-years-old. Class is limited to 25 participants and pre-registration is required. The fee is $36 per person and classes are designed for adults with mental or developmental disabilities. A water wheelchair, a chair lift, life jackets and tubes are available if needed.
