Kids' Leave the Parents at Home and Visit the Swamp!
BREC's Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center (BSNC), 10503 N. Oak Hills Parkway, will host its new Kids' Night Out event Fri., Feb. 14 from 6-10 p.m.
When the sun goes down, the nocturnal creatures come out at the Swamp! Children can enjoy an exciting plethora of swamp games, hikes, crafts and animal encounters, highlighting fun facts about critters and their habitats.
Dinner will be provided.
Grab the flashlights and bug spray and join us! Participants are also encouraged to wear long pants, socks and closed-toe shoes.
Kids' Night Out is hosted select Fridays each month, the next dates are March 14 and April 11.
Registration is required and limited to 24 participants, ages 7-12. Admission for East Baton Rouge Parish residents is $20 per child and out-of-parish residents are $24 per child.
BREC's Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center is a 103-acre facility dedicated to connecting people with nature through conservation, education, recreation and tourism. It houses an award-winning 9,500-square-foot building filled with live animal exhibits; photographic presentations of the site's flora and fauna; natural artifact and mineral displays; occasional art exhibits; and a sizeable vintage waterfowl decoy carving collection. More than one mile of gravel paths and boardwalks link varied habitats where visitors might see a variety of wildflowers, insects, birds, small animals, amphibians and reptiles.
