Overview
The new Aquatic Facility is an added feature to Independence Community Park.

Planning Process
The National Acclaimed firm of Kimley-Horn Counsilman-Hunsaker & Associates was selected, and has completed an inventory of existing BREC pool facilities and staff. There were several public meetings that BREC held to get input regarding the future of aquatics for the citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish. Kimley-Horn Counsilman-Hunsaker Associates were involved in all these meetings and shared ideas with the public. This input was used to develop the final master plan.

Master Plan
The study took months to complete. The final Master Plan was presented to the entire BREC Commission upon its completion and was approved. Data Collection: Inventory of BREC facilities and any private or quasi-private aquatic facilities presently operating in the parish. Initial public meetings with BREC staff, community groups, and the general public to determine what programs and/or specific activities need to be included in the master plan.
