Hours of Operation for all Tennis Centers
Mon.-Thurs. from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. EXCEPT Greenwood Tennis Center which is open from 3-10 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m.-8 p.m. EXCEPT Greenwood Tennis Center,  which is closed but courts are available for free play.

Saturday:  8 a.m.-6 p.m.
Sunday:  8 a.m.-6 p.m. EXCEPT Independence Tennis which will remain open until 8 p.m.

BREC has five major tennis centers which feature pro shops, lighted courts, racquet stringing, instruction and racquet and ball machine rentals.

Ball machine rental is available at Independence Park, Highland Road Park and Capital One Tennis Center at City Park for $5 per hour. Ball rental is $3 per hour.

 

 

Youth Programming
BREC's Tennis Centers offer a variety of programming for youth players.  Programs include two year-round tennis academies (Independence and Highland Parks), QuickStart tennis, tournaments, after-school programs, and Holiday camps. Individual and group instruction for various skill levels is provided by certified tennis instructors.  For more information about BREC's tennis programs, call the Tennis Department at 225-272-9200, ext. 424.  Also, you may download monthly Tennis Programming Guides below.

 

CAPITAL ONE TENNIS CENTER AT CITY-BROOKS COMMUNITY PARK

Home School Fall Tennis Programs (Ages 6-17) in September, now offering two sessions.  Click here for registration form and more information on Session 1, Sept. 3 - Oct. 8, registration deadline is Aug. 31.  Click here for registration form and more information on Session 2, Sept. 24 - Oct 29, registration deadline is Sept. 21.

Open House Fall Series for Juniors (Ages 6-16) every Saturday from Sept. 6 - Dec. 13.  Click here for program information.

Rally4Hunger (Ages 5-18) - Play tennis for a worthy cause!  Saturday, Aug. 30 from 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.  To play, bring 3-5 non-perishable food items, which will be donated to the Food Bank.  Racquets will be provided and parents are welcome to participate.  For more information, contact Stacey Smith at rally4hunger@gmail.com.



INDEPENDENCE COMMUNITY PARK TENNIS CENTER

Tennis Whizz

Independence Community Park Tennis Center is now offering the Tennis Whizz Program for children (Ages 3-7).  Tennis Whizz has added a new dimension to junior tennis programming!  Based on sound developmental principles/activities and a fabulous use of storytelling, Tennis Whizz delivers a quality pre-school tennis program. FOREST COMMUNITY PARK TENNIS CENTER

Fall Junior Tennis League (Ages 5-10 and 11-16) introduces beginner junior players to tennis competition and match play.  This 6-week league is held on Wednesdays from Sept. 17 - Oct. 27, 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.  Registration deadline is Sept. 12.  Click here for information.

HIGHLAND ROAD COMMUNITY PARK TENNIS CENTER

Highland Park Junior Tennis Academy (Ages 5-17) - This is a continuous year round program separated into semesters. Skill levels include beginner, advanced beginner, and intermediate. Fall semester runs August 18 - December 11; Monday - Thursday from 4:30 p.m. - 6 p.m. Click here for more information.

Fall Pee-Wee Tennis (Ages 3-6) every Saturday from 9:30 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.  Registration is the Thursday prior to the session.  Click here for more information.

Fall Sunday Junior Tennis Match Challenge every Sunday from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. (Ages 5-17).  Click here for more information.


Wheelchair Tennis  

Instruction offered each Saturday morning from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. All ages.  Beginners, intermediate and advanced skill level players.  This free program is offered by instructor Carlos Roldan.  For more information, contact Carlos at k.ctennis@hotmail.com.

Adult Cardio Tennis is a fun group activity featuring drills to give players of all abilities an ultimate, high-energy workout.  Sessions begin Tuesday, Aug. 12 from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m.  Click here for more information.

 

INDEPENDENCE COMMUNITY PARK TENNIS CENTER

Commence Tennis  An adult program for beginner and players returning to tennis. The program is six weeks long and takes place on Sunday evening.  The program is a systematic approach using modified courts and balls, play-based coaching and teaching progression with a clearly defined pathway to learn the game of tennis.

Wheelchair Tennis
