Greenwood Park is Closed to Prepare for Construction; Dumas Golf Course to Remain Open
BAKER, La-Greenwood Park, located inear Baker on Highway 19, is closed to the public due to the construction of the park site. Vehicular and pedestrian traffic will not be allowed until the park reopens near the end of 2010.
Many area residents use the park area to picnic, fish, play disc golf and tennis.
BREC suggests that families and groups picnic less than a mile away at J.S. Clark Park.
Highland Road Park Disc Golf Course is available and the Flanacher Disc Golf Course in Zachary will be opening to the public in September.
Neighborhood tennis courts are available in the Palomino subdivision in Central, Little Farms Park in Zachary, Rollins Road Park, 39th Street Park, Rita Street Park, and S. Magnolia Park.
Greenwood Park is one of 12 community parks across East Baton Rouge parish to receive dramatic redesigns and renovations. City-Brooks and Anna T. Jordan Community Parks already have opened. Howell Community Park is scheduled to open following its renovation. Forest and Perkins Road Community Parks have just started their renovations.
All of these park projects were made possible through the Imagine Your Parks tax plan supported by the citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish in 2004.
