SALARY: $25,818.00 - $38,146.00 annually plus full benefits. This is a six month introductory appointment. Satisfactory completion of introductory period is required prior to full-time staff appointment.

REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or equivalent required; 2 years vocational training in horticulture, turf maintenance, arboriculture or a closely related field preferred; Pesticide Applicators license preferred; Valid LA driver's license; CDL class D or B license preferred; 3 year of grounds maintenance or closely related experience; Mechanical aptitude; Ability to inspect, recognize  and respond to needed maintenance in parks; Interpersonal and organizational skills - ability to prioritize, inspect work, and organize and direct other workers; Ability to read and write; Good work and attendance records; Ability to operate most types of mowing equipment used in park maintenance; Ability to layout and maintain ball fields; Organized in record keeping.

DUTIES: Operating mowers and leading mowing crews; Laying out and maintaining athletic fields using measuring tapes, hammers, rakes, hoes; Maintaining and repairing playgrounds; Maintaining picnic facilities; Maintaining and repairing fences, backstops, tennis courts, basketball courts, water fountains; Performing general upkeep of playgrounds and parks repairing equipment, removing debris and weeds, digging ditches; Operating: loaders, graders, occasionally backhoes, dozers, motor graders; Filling in, in absence of District Foreman, supervising district crew; Operating a variety of maintenance equipment as needed; Directing weekend/off-hour crews; Assisting in the evaluation of subordinate performance reviews; Other duties as assigned.
