Nationally acclaimed horse trainer David Carter, is offering a two-day intermediate performance horse clinic from June 19-20, with clinics starting each day at 9 a.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m., at BREC's Farr Park Equestrian Center, 6402 River Road. Carter, a native of Natchez, Miss., placed fourth at the 2008 Extreme Mustang Challenge - a national competition to tame wild horses in 100 days - where he competed against 168 trainers from 38 states across the country. Recently, he took home the title of Louisiana Colt Starting Challenge 2010 Champion for his five hours of work with untrained colts. This clinic focuses on intermediate groundwork, negotiating obstacles, understanding voice commands, lateral movement, and more on Saturday's session and covers skills review, vertical backing, rollbacks, following a pattern, and more on Sunday's session.
