Center Supervisors  H.S. diploma  or equiv; Basic mathematical skills; Strong interpersonal skills, ability to instruct, direct and relate with public in a positive manner; Ability to schedule, administer, evaluate effective recreation programs. Hours may fluctuate from core hours of 3-7 hours per day, 5-6 days per week; up to 29 hours per week; some weekend work may be required. $7.40/hr.

Cycling Clerk H.S. diploma or G.E.D.; valid LA DL; one year exp. in a recreational setting; first aid & CPR cert. w/in 30 days of hire; collecting fees; maintaining condition of track and mechanical operation of bicycles; ability to ride a 20" bicycle; bicycle maintenance knowledge desired. $7.40/hr.  

Equipment Specialist / Train Operator H.S. diploma or equiv. desired; some knowledge of train mechanics; strong interpersonal skills; valid LA DL and basic math skills. The Zoo Train Operator maintains and drives the train along a predetermined route through the Zoo while delivering verbal information about the Zoo to passengers. Hours: Vary $8.14/hr

Fitness Attendants H.S. diploma or equiv; Current CPR certification; Knowledge of fitness equipment; Knowledge of wellness and fitness programs; Strong interpersonal skills. $7.40/ hr.

Fitness Instructor H.S. diploma or equiv; current CPR and Personal Trainer certifications.
Knowledge of fitness equipment; Knowledge of wellness and fitness programs; Strong interpersonal skills. Commission pay of 60/40. Flexible schedule; multiple locations.  Must be able to: 

•  Lead, instruct and motivate individuals or groups in exercise activities
•  Cardiovascular exercise, strength training and stretching
•  Help clients assess their level of physical fitness, set and assist in the reaching of goals
•  Demonstrate various exercises and help patrons improve their exercise techniques
•  Maintain records of their clients' exercise sessions to monitor progress

Gift Shop Clerk at the Zoo. Routine cashier duties, stocks the gift shop, light maintenance such as sweeping and mopping, High school grad or equivalent, basic math skills, good communication skills, and customer service / retail experience. Hours: Vary with weekends. $7.40/hr.

Golf Cart Attendant  Works mainly outside maintaining, renting, and overseeing use of golf carts.  Cleaning and maintaining of golf carts, picking up and cleaning balls, cleaning restrooms, and other duties as assigned. Must possess a valid LA Driver's License. Hours: Vary. $7.40/hr

Golf Shop Clerk   Must be HS grad or equivalent, have valid LA Driver's License with a good driving record, and retail/customer service experience.  Will collect fees; operate cash register, provide exceptional customer service; general office/clerical duties. Hours: Vary. $7.40/hr

Golf Laborers Must have a valid LA Driver's License with a good driving record.  Groundskeeping/ horticulture experience preferred.  Must be able to perform physical, outdoor manual labor.  Hours: Vary $8.8215/hr.

Guest Services Coordinator H.S. diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred in Tourism, or other related fields; two years supervisory related experience and cash handling experience; Ability to communicate with the public; coordinate rentals; trains and supervises gift shop staff; other duties as assigned. $10.7226/hr.

Park Rangers   Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with associates, patrons, community groups and the general public. Excellent moral character and an acceptable driving and police record. 2 years experience as police officer, security officer, or related. $10.20/ hr. 

Program Aides  Basic math skills and customer service experience required. High School diploma or equivalent required.  Ability to learn new things is a must.  $7.40/hr.

Stablehand at the Farr Horse Activity Center. Feeds and waters horses, turns-out and cleans stalls and other duties related to animal care; Loads, unloads and pushes wheel barrow with manure and solid bedding from stall areas to stockpile; Assists with rounding up horses from pasture for lessons; Assists with clean up of all areas of the facility; Loads, unloads and carries bags of feed, bales of hay and bags of shaving; Assists with preparation of stall/pens/arenas and portable structures used for functions; Other duties as assigned. Previous work with horses preferred. Hours: Vary $8.8215/hr.

Tennis Instructors to provide adult and/or youth tennis instruction. Must possess a H. S. Diploma or G.E.D. and experience teaching lessons. Ability to plan and instruct classes and work with the general public. Flexible hours.

Tennis Shop Clerks for several locations.  Must be HS grad or equivalent desired; with previous retail or customer service experience.  No tennis knowledge required, but is helpful.  Will maintain tennis center, assist patrons, reserve courts, sell merchandise, prepare financial reports, etc. Hours: Vary. $7.40/hr.     

Ticket Seller will work at the Zoo Admissions gate; HS diploma preferred with cash register/retail sales experience. Hours: Vary. $7.40/hr. 

Tour Guides for Magnolia Mound Plantation.  Must be HS grad with history background or experience in tour business.  Must have customer service, public speaking skills, and be willing to work some evenings and weekends.  Will guide tours and assist with gift shop sales and programming.  $7.40/hr.

Zoo Educator HS Diploma ; must have a valid LA Driver's License, some training in education and public presentations required; animal experience preferred; excellent PR and interpersonal communication skills; willingness to handle education animals. Will present Safari night programs overnight starting on Friday or Saturday evenings on an as needed basis; lead groups on tours and presents material; assist patrons at all times; work all major Zoo events on Saturdays. Hours: Vary. $10.7226/hr.

Seasonal Maintenance  Laborers for BREC's Maintenance Departments.  We are actively seeking individuals who are adamant about hard work and have satisfaction through job completion.  Work will include cutting grass, weedeating, tree trimming, picking up debris around the parks and facilities.  Overall, ensuring that all parks and centers maintain a presentable and welcome appearance.  Jobs are with the various maintenance departments located throughout East Baton Rouge Parish. Seasonal Construction Laborers for BREC's Capital Improvements Department.  We are actively seeking individuals with a construction-related background to assist Trades Personnel in carrying out various duties in the construct, repair, and / or maintenance of over 150 locations throughout the East Baton Rouge Parish.  Incumbents will work and gain additional experience in the areas of painting, carpentry, electrical work, brick laying, cement finishing, plumbing, etc. Location: North Sherwood Forest Blvd. Hours: 6AM-4:30 PM Monday-Thursday.

Driver's license and maintenance experience preferred. 40 hours per week for 5 months.  $8.8215/hr.  Come in person to apply and bring two valid forms of identification.  Acceptable forms include LA ID card, LA driver's license, social security card, or birth certificate.  Please call about other acceptable forms before coming.  Also, be prepared to provide good employment references for reference checks.  Several positions open throughout East Baton Rouge Parish! Rock Wall Clerk H.S. diploma or G.E.D.; Valid LA DL; one year exp. in a recreational setting; First Aid & CPR cert. w/in 30 days of hire; collecting fees; Maintaining condition of rock wall and climbing equipment; Climbing wall knowledge desired; Ability to climb 35 ft wall. $7.40/hr.
