The Independence Park Theatre and Cultural Center (IPT) hosts many events including dance recitals, concerts, plays, musicals, graduations, lectures, seminars and more. 

The 780-seat theatre can be rented by public and private schools, community organizations, corporations and individuals.

To purchase tickets in person: The box office is located at 7800 Independence Boulevard at the north entrance to the building. For box office information, call 225-216-0660.

Admission: Ticket prices vary. Lobby doors open one hour prior to the announced event time. Doors to the auditorium open 30 minutes prior to curtain. Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of management.

Box office hours: Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The box office opens one hour prior to show time and remains open until curtain.

Credit cards accepted: MasterCard and VISA

Refunds and Exchanges: No refunds or exchanges.

Helpful Information:
Free Parking: Parking for 600 cars is available for patrons at no charge. The parking lot is located adjacent to the theatre.

IPT has been host to hundreds of events including concerts, plays, musicals, dance recitals, lectures, graduations, seminars, workshops, confrences and pageants since its opening in 2001.

IPT's proscenium theatre has a seating capacity of 780 with state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment. In addition, the theatre has two smaller conference rooms that can accommodate groups of 50-100.


The theatre is available for rent by public and private schools, community organizations, corporations and individuals with discounted rates for non-profit organizations.


Louisiana Art and Artists' Guild Gallery

Located at IPT, the Louisiana Art and Artists' Guild Gallery hosts a number of art exhibits throughout the year.

Open 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tues.-Fri., Guild Gallery is free and open to the public.

Parking: Parking spaces for people with disabilities provide easy access to the theatre entrances.

Accessible Seating: Accessible seating for persons with disabilities is available for all shows on a first-come-first-served basis. Be sure to mention your interest in wheelchair-accessible seating when placing your ticket order.

Audio Aids: A state-of-the-art audio enhancement system is available to the hearing impaired. Receivers and earphones are available free of charge and may be picked up at the box office located in the lobby one hour prior to curtain.
