The Weaving Workshop
with Cecelia Hopes, Artist and Designer
From the Artist: Take a journey through the rich tapestry of history as we delve into the timeless art of weaving and unravel the threads of history while weaving your own contemporary masterpiece. Discover the fascinating origins of this ancient craft, where weaving flourished as an essential household practice. Explore how this tradition became intricately intertwined with family life, enduring across millennia. In this 3-hour hands-on workshop, participants will embark on a journey through time, learning the fundamentals of weaving from warp to weft. Guided by your experienced instructor, you'll master the intricacies of warping a frame loom, creating fringe, experiment with shapes, textures, and patterns, mastering the plain weave technique. Finally, removing your creation from the loom then transforming the woven piece into a stunning wall hanging. Students will walk away from The Weaving Workshop with the knowledge and skills to create their own intricate woven masterpieces, rich in history and personal expression.
