Black History Month: Part II

Saturday, Feb 20, 2021 9:00 am - 12:00 pm 2021-02-20 09:00:00 2021-02-20 12:00:00 America/Chicago Black History Month: Part II Part II continues the celebration with a Day of Health and Service on February 20 from 9 a.m.-noon at Charles R. Kelly Community Center’s back lawn area located at 3535 Riley Street. Community members are asked to come exercise, view the Walking Art Museum honoring medical presented by local artists, and donate for Our Lady of the Lake Covid Unit and Children’s Hospital. UPDATE: 

Part II of the Black History Month Celebration scheduled for February 20 is being postponed. Community members are still being asked to donate care packages which is extended to March 1, 2021. Care packages will be donated to Our Lady of the Lake COVID unit and Children’s Hospital. Donations can be dropped off pre-event at City Hall, Charles R. Kelly Community Center, BREC and Exxon; and on February 20. See preferred donation list below.

The Black Art Exhibit will be displayed for the next two weeks at City Hall, BREC, and Exxon prior to being donated to our partners. The Exhibit recognizing Black Physicians in Medicine and were painted by local artists, Brandon Lewis and Josh White in partnership with Imagination Leads Nonprofit and Bonton And Associates.

  • Get Well cards from the community (in unsealed envelopes so we can vet them)
