BREC to Hold 75th Anniversary Event
The Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge Parish (BREC) is celebrating 75 years of rising to the challenge to make your parks More than a Playground. Join us for an evening of family fun and endless entertainment at BREC's 75th Birthday Celebration on Saturday, July 16 from 6-9 p.m. at Independence Community Park.
Patrons can enjoy popcorn while experiencing the history of BREC through a video presentation playing every half hour from 7-9 p.m. inside Independence Park Theatre. Outside activities will include a photo booth, face painting, balloon artist, magician, charcutier artist, jugglers and stilt walkers. The celebration will also feature live music by The Michael Foster Project, arts and crafts, games, giveaways, inflatables, the zoo mobile, pony rides, free food sponsored by the BREC Foundation and a fireworks finale sponsored by Coca-Cola.
In addition to the activities at Independence Community Park, Liberty Lagoon will extend their hours of operation from 7-9 p.m. allowing patrons to enter the waterpark at a 75% discounted rate.
