BREC's Forest Community Park Opens Raising Cane's Dog Park Oct. 25

EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH-Join us to celebrate Raising Cane's Dog Park Grand Opening Monday, Oct. 25 from 6-7:30 p.m. at BREC's Forest Community Park, 13900 S. Harrells Ferry Road.

The night's activities include a Dog and Owner Costume Contest, Halloween treat bag decorating, ghost pops, face painting, coloring sheets, lemon toss and a candy corn jar guessing game.  Guests may register for the costume contest from 6:15-6:45 p.m. Todd Graves and Cane will announce the most original, best dog and owner look-a-like as well as best overall costume at 7 p.m.

Raising Cane's will provide prizes for the costume contest and games.

The dog park stretches over 1.2 acres and includes a 5,500 square feet small dog park and is equipped with two watering stations, benches, pavilions and new trees.

Raising Cane's contributed $70,000 toward the dog park.

The Raising Cane's Dog Park at Forest Community Park is the third of many dog parks BREC plans to build. BREC currently operates dog parks at Burbank and City-Brooks Parks. Upcoming Raising Cane's dog parks include Zachary and Greenwood Community Park.

East Baton Rouge Parish residents identified dog parks as one of the improvements they wanted during BREC's Imagine Your Parks campaign conducted from June 2003 to June 2004. Residents said they wanted areas where they could bring their dogs to run unleashed while they met other local owners.

Park hours are from sunrise to sunset seven days a week.

It is the BREC mission to provide parks and recreational opportunities for all residents of East Baton Rouge Parish.
