Zoo Lights
BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo
December 1-30 / 5:30-8 p.m. (closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day)

Get into the holiday spirit with Zoo Lights at BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo, presented by Our Lady of the Lake Children's Health! Wander through a magical wonderland of twinkling lights. The zoo is open from November 28th to December 30th (closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).
Reindog Run
Comite River Conservation Area
December 6 / 8 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Calling all dogs and their humans—the 3rd Annual Reindog Run is back! Whether your four-legged friend is more Scrappy Doo or Clifford, they’re invited to trot through a festive 2-mile loop along the park’s scenic trails. Don’t forget to dress them in their holiday best for a chance to win a pawsome prize!
Sensory Santa
North Sherwood Forest Community Park
December 6 / 9 a.m.-noon

In partnership with Families Helping Families, the BREC Adaptive team invites you to come right down Santa Clause Lane and take a picture with Santa! Children and adults with sensory Processing disorders have an opportunity to enjoy activities and have one on one time to take a picture with Santa, without the hassle of standing in line.
Holiday Art Pop Up! Brrrr..The Grinch
Milton J. Womack Park
December 6 / 5-9 p.m.

Spend a cold December evening with us inspired by that old Grinch! We'll watch the original production of The Grinch, make Grinchy art, and enjoy Grinch Green treats and warm cocoa. (Grown-ups: this is a great opportunity for an evening out or quiet time!) Please bring a small blanket for Grinch watching.
Teens Snowball Bash

Get ready for a frosty good time at the Snowball Bash! This isn't your typical holiday party—this is where dodgeball meets winter wonderland. Get into the holiday spirit with a snowball dodgeball tournament, music, games, snacks, and tons of festive fun.
BREC's Green Force Volunteer Training
Forest Community Park
December 13 / 8 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Become a member of BREC's Green Force and help us create a greener and healthier East Baton Rouge Parish! We are looking for individuals interested in conservation management and able to contribute at least 15 volunteer hours per year, stewarding our conservation areas. Perks include spending time outside, creating a healthier environment, t-shirts, and tax breaks! Volunteers who complete the training will become part of our official volunteer force, who can work in the field without BREC staff supervision. Lunch will be provided.
Let It Sneaux

Who says you can’t have a Winter Wonderland in Baton Rouge? Join BREC at the annual holiday event, Let It Sneaux, for an afternoon full of holiday cheer, flurries of fun, and magical memories for the whole family!
Enjoy live music by Beacoup Boogie, special performances, and festive favorites like photos with Santa and popular holiday characters, a petting zoo, pony rides, hot chocolate, and s’mores!
Stroll through the Children’s Entrepreneur Market, where kidpreneurs show off their creative goods and gifts. Explore the Gingerbread Activity Village, grab a bite at one of Baton Rouge's local food trucks, decorate your own ornaments and cookies, hop on the train ride, rock wall or bungee jumper and so many more activities for even more excitement!
And don’t miss the grand finale, a breathtaking holiday drone light show lighting up the night sky!
Geminid Meteor Shower

The Geminids are one of the major meteor showers of the year—the only one caused by an asteroid. Come join us and see if we can catch some “earthgrazers”! Viewing may shift by one day.
Magnolia Mound Creole Christmas + Holiday Fair
Magnolia Mound: Museum + Historic Site
December 14 / noon-5 p.m.

Come visit us for this annual holiday event featuring seasonal decorations in the historic house. We will have traditional songs in French and Spanish, period demonstrations, folk crafts, and booths from local vendors. We’ll close out the event with the annual bonfire to welcome Papa Noel!
Sunshine Social: Merry + Bright Ball

Dance the night away with BREC Adaptive and Families Helping Families as we host our monthly Sunshine Socials. Be creative and dress to match each month’s theme. Enjoy dinner, dancing, and door prizes.

Learn the basics of decorating and creating a work of art cookie while enjoying a delicious cookie treat. All participants will get to take their cookie home to show their family.
