Baton Rouge Gallery Presents Kinetics Live Art Auction Nov. 4

Baton Rouge Gallery is proud to host the premier live art auction in the area, KINETICS, on Friday, Nov. 4 from 6-10 p.m. inside Baton Rouge Gallery, 1515 Dalrymple Drive.

Celebrating the energy of contemporary art, specifically in Louisiana's capital city, this event will provide a chance for arts supporters, business leaders and community members to share their passion for the area's growing arts community while bidding on more than 25 works from some of the region's most talented and prolific artists.

Tickets are now on sale at the gallery for $40 for nonmembers and $30 for Baton Rouge Gallery members. All proceeds from KINETICS go directly toward furthering the gallery's ability to bring the area's best contemporary art exhibitions and programming to the community.

Among those adding to the energy of KINETICS include WBRZ's Whitney Vann (225 Magazine's Favorite TV Personality, 2009 and 2010) presiding as emcee, The Michael Foster Project unleashing their lively sounds through the gallery, and MJ's Cafe serving amazing fresh, local food all night.

The highlight of the evening, the KINETICS live auction will feature roughly 30 works of original art from BRG Artist Members up for bid. This fast-paced opportunity to start an art collection or find the perfect piece to add to one will see bidding open at $150 for every work.

Among the artists whose work will be up for bid are: Kelli Scott Kelley, Diane Hanson, Kathleen Lemoine, James Burke, Marcus McAllister, Van Wade-Day, Dawn Black, Randell Henry, Jenny Authement, April Hammock, Phyllis Lear, Matt Morris, Steve Schmidt, David DuBose, Preston Gilchrist, Rosemary Goodell, Tom Richard, Judi Betts, Mary Lee Eggart, Paul Dean, Frankie Gould, Eleanor Owen Kerr, and Michaelene Walsh.

This year, for the first time ever, the gallery offers a unique opportunity for those eager to support the arts. Anyone purchasing tickets to the event who is not already a member will have the chance to become a card-carrying Community Member of the gallery for $60.

In addition to KINETICS tickets now on hand, tickets are also available for another first: the KINETICS raffle. This year, the gallery will raffle off "Wave and Ice," a stunning 2010 work by one of Baton Rouge Gallery's founding artist members, Ed Pramuk. The gallery will make 500 tickets available with every ticket costing $10. Pramuk donated the work, completed in 2010, with generous support from Michael D. Robinson and Donald J. Boutte.

For more than 45 years now, BRG has served as a hub of contemporary art in the greater Baton Rouge area. It is home to some of the biggest names in local contemporary art and works to connect the public with the very best emerging and established artists in our region. Last year alone, more than 15,000 visitors experienced local, contemporary art at BRG through a wide array of exhibitions, programs and events. In addition, national and regional juried exhibitions, a cutting-edge national video art showcase, numerous lectures, performances and more make BRG one of the most exciting and engaging arts venues in the region.

John G. Turner and Jerry G. Fischer sponsor this event, in part.
