All of BREC recreation programs are inclusive throughout the parish. However, we want to offer our services to help this inclusion happen. If you know a child or an adult who needs any assistance, please call the program coordinator at 225-926-4659.

BREC offers supervised social activities called "Sunshine Socials" for East Baton Rouge Parish children and adults with disabilities. We are offering more activities and programs each and everyday at BREC.
Sunshine Social Seminars/Dances at Independence Park Recreation Center

Evenings of planned social activities are scheduled for children and adults with disabilities. These dances are held throughout the year every month based on a theme. Parents and friends are welcome! We will have a short seminar hosted by Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge, DJ, food and drinks, and activities. The dance begins at 5 p.m. and ends around 10 p.m. in Room 126. Admission is $3 per person. YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER, by calling 216-7474.

Movie night consists of socialization, snacks, activities and watching a movie all based on a monthly theme. Activities will begin in Room #1 and the movie is played in the theatre. BREC's Farr Park Horse Activity Center Therapeutic Riding Program
Horse riding classes are offered for children and adults with disabilities. The classes take place on Monday afternoons/evenings. For further information and to register for classes, please contact the HAC at (225) 769-7805.
BREC Camp Sunshine Day Camp
This is a summer day camp specially designed for children with disabilities, children ages 6 to 12 and teens ages 13 to 16. We have directors and counselors that have experience working with children with disabilities.
