BREC Broke Out the Hard Hats in 2018 Investing More Than $12 Million

Continuing steady progress on the implementation of the Imagine Your Parks 2 strategic plan, BREC invested more than $12-million on fourteen completed projects, and fifteen others in the planning phase, in 2018. Dozens of new amenities were introduced to parks throughout the parish with even more underway for the coming year to help residents of all ages play, discover and grow in their park system.

BREC Commission Names New Superintendent of Parks and Recreation

The BREC Commission today voted to select Corey Wilson to replace Superintendent Carolyn McKnight who announced in August that she is retiring and moving back to Dallas to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

BREC Christmas and New Year Holiday Operating Hours

The Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge (BREC) will close the administrative offices, 6201 Florida Blvd., on Friday, Dec. 21 through Tuesday, Dec. 25 for the Christmas holiday. Normal operating hours will resume at all BREC facilities on Wednesday, Dec. 26.
