Free Helmets for a Promise

Promise to wear a helmet, and get one for free. The Ian Tilmann Foundation's "Helmet for a Promise" program will provide free custom ordered helmets to skateboarders who promise to wear them at BREC's Perkins Road Community Park Grand Re-opening on Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Ian Tilmann Foundation, Inc. began "Helmet for a Promise" to encourage skateboarders to wear helmets and, to date, the non-profit has donated over 3,000 helmets to skateboarders. The foundation supports skating events and will host a tent at BREC's Perkins Road Community Park Grand Re-opening featuring pro skater Lester Kasai and Monster Energy.

Kasai is scheduled to perform demos and sign autographs. The famous California skater invented the "Beni Hana" trick and won 1st place in the 2009 Masters World Bowl Rankings. Another supporter, Monster Energy, will hand out drinks and swag for all those who attend the park re-opening.

BREC's Perkins Road Community Park Grand Re-opening begins at 10 a.m. with skating demos starting at 1 p.m. Festivities at this event include BMX and skate demonstrations, a ribbon cutting ceremony, food, music and fun.
