Baton Rouge Gallery Hosts Art-roduction: A Primer for Art Appreciation

Don't know Manet from Monet? Want to learn more about the meaning of art and the techniques artists use? Then this class is for you. Art-roduction: A Primer for Art Appreciation includes four one-hour sessions, Nov. 2, 9, 16 and 23 at the Baton Rouge Gallery, 1515 Dalrymple Drive. The class covers visual analysis of art, styles of art, deconstructing the elements of design and composition and interpretation of the artwork. The fee is $80 for in-parish residents and $96 for out-of-parish residents.

Former Baton Rouge Community College instructor and painter Rosemary Goodell will introduce students to their first contact with the world of art and how to appreciate a work of art. Students will learn to recognize realism, representationalism, expressionism and abstraction, and also have the opportunity to investigate the methods and materials employed by many contemporary artists. Students will have input on discussion topics and enjoy a special viewing of the gallery's November Group Art Exhibition.
