BREC's Magnolia Mound Plantation Celebrates Christmas with Special Events

Get the family together and light up the holiday season the old fashioned way at BREC's Magnolia Mound Plantation.

On Dec. 12, Magnolia Mound Plantation hosts its French Creole Christmas celebration. From 3-6 p.m., guests will celebrate Christmas the old-fashioned way with traditional food and games as well as live music, plantation tours and demonstrations from period craftsmen. The night concludes with a bonfire the whole family can enjoy.

Throughout the month of December, BREC's Magnolia Mound Plantation offers exhibits showcasing 19th century Creole Christmas traditions.  Plantation guests discover how 19th century ancestors decorated their homes and the traditions, food and religious ceremonies involved in a 19th century Christmas.

Magnolia Mound Plantation is open to the public Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Guided tours of the grounds are conducted every hour from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., with the exception of the Historic House which is closed for renovations. Admission to the plantation is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and students and $3 for children ages 5 to 17. Children under 5 get in free. Self-guided walking tours are $3 for all ages.
