Summer Camps

2019 Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center Camp

10503 N. Oak Hills Parkway

Swamps are masters of all the elements, having special abilities to withstand the summer heat, autumn winds, spring rains and winter frost. Learn the secrets of survival by exploring how Bluebonnet Swamp and its inhabitants thrive in an everchanging environment. Age-specific, thematic activities are developed to keep campers having fun all day long as they interact with live animals, go on outdoor hikes, play games and make unique nature crafts. Fun snacks are provided in the afternoons, but campers should bring a bag lunch and drink each day. Field trips are generally scheduled twice a week, including Swamp Squirts sessions.

Due to popularity of the program, the Swamp Counselors in Training session will continue with new opportunities for first, second, third and fourth-year CITs to gain skills needed to work as counselors at Bluebonnet Swamp. Topics focus on camper management techniques, leadership training and activity development, as well as job seeking skills to provide valuable experience for potential employment opportunities in the future. The Swamp CIT registration fee includes four days of training (May 29-31) and one day of skill evaluation the following week (June 3-7).
