The facility is located only two miles from the LSU campus and six miles from downtown Baton Rouge attractions. The campground is adjacent to the Mississippi River, located on historic River Road. It is easily accessible from Interstate 10. The campground has 108 sites (many pull-throughs) and is equipped with water and power hookups and restroom facilities.
Horse Lover's Camp
Horse Lover's camp sessions run for one week with a horse show every Friday at 11 a.m. for parents to attend. Farr Park Equestrian Center divides each weekly session of the camp into three different groups: (P) = pony camp (ages 6-8 only); (W) = western style riding (ages 9-12 only); and (E) = English style riding (ages 9-12 only). When registering, make sure to enroll in the proper age group and style of riding. Campers learn basic riding and horsemanship skills, participate in crafts and games and other horse related activities.

Hearts and Hooves Therapeutic Riding Program
The Hearts and Hooves Therapeutic Riding Program provides equine-oriented activities for the purpose of contributing to the cognitive, physical, emotional and social well-being of people with disabilities.
The center welcomes adults and children, ages six and older, to participate in sessions throughout the school year every Monday from 4:30-5:30 p.m. or from 6-7 p.m. The fee is $120 per six-week session.
People of all ages with a variety of disabilities discover new worlds through equine-assisted activities. Because horseback riding gently and rhythmically moves riders' bodies in a manner similar to the human step, individuals with physical disabilities often show improvement in flexibility, balance and muscle strength.
Moreover, for people with mental or emotional disabilities, the unique relationship they form with the horse can lead to increased confidence, patience and self-esteem.
Advanced registration is required. For more information and to register, call 225-769-7805. To volunteer, call 225-272-9200, 446 or email email@example.com.
