The park is located south of Interstate 12, in the southeastern section of the parish, hear Millerville Road. It was designated as a Community Park in the Imagine Your Parks strategic plan. A community park serves a larger geographic area than a neighborhood park and is designed to engage the entire family for a whole day. Higher levels of maintenance, security, and recreational opportunities are offered at community parks.
Redeveloped in 2010, Forest Community Park features re-defined vehicular and pedestrian circulation throughout the park while improving upon the existing baseball/softball fields and the recreation center. Other improvements include a new larger dog park, a fishing pond, jogging/walking trails, community playground and splash pad. The splash pad is an interactive water play area with no standing water. The public can activate the water spray features by simply pushing a button. Additionally, the renovated Tennis Center features a pro shop and 11 lighted tennis courts.
