Owen Garriot took the first amateur radio into space in 1983. Shannon Lucid used amateur radio while on the MIR space station. That's right...if you are a "ham", it's possible to be listening and receive a "general call" from an astronaut in space! Come learn to send your name in Morse code, and find out everything you wanted to know about the Amateur Radio Service-including how to get your own license! Temporary stations will be set up on HRPO grounds as the Baton Rouge Amateur Radio Club takes part in this suspenseful national transmitting exercise!
