Warmth of the Earth Pottery Program

Use your hands to get creative while shaping and molding clay into beautiful pieces of artwork. Basic pottery techniques are introduced where participants will be allowed to create, paint, and glaze their individual pieces. Art UnWined

Tired of the same ol’paint and drink?! If so, then check out BREC’s adult-only, fun and creative grown-up time outs. Each of these classes are designed to encourage and inspire while enjoying beverages and nibbles. All art supplies, nibbles and adult (or not) beverages included. Great for friend get-togethers, bridal parties, corporate team building or just making new friends! Private ART UnWINEd bookings are also available. Must be 21 to join the fun. This Fall’s Art UnWined themes have something for everyone!

Saturday Morning Studio

Saturday Morning Studio is TRAVELLING AROUND THE WORLD! Each month BREC Art will “travel” to different countries to experience history, art, (and snacks!) from different cultures. Join us each month for tips, treats, and creative expression as we pack our art bags and see the world! $12 per class EBR Parish residents $14.40 out-of-parish residents Sept. 10: Mona Lisa Cat - In this session, the very little-known French portrait of the Mona Lisa Cat will be recreated with chalk and oil pastels. This “visit” to France will introduce students to the mysterious Mona Lisa painting, a stop at the Eiffel Tower and Macarons. Nov. 12: Mother’s Helper - Students will travel to Mexico City, Mexico where they will meet Diego Rivera. Bright colors, Hispanic culture and nachos will all be part of the fun as we recreate his famous Mother’s Helper using mixed media. Dec. 3: Gingerbread House - The German tradition of building gingerbread houses is still part of holiday traditions worldwide. After learning the origin of the gingerbread house and seeing different houses from around the world, we will build our own edible Gingerbread masterpiece!

Sharp as a Needle Sewing Class: Webb

Do you have a sewing machine, patterns or fabric lying around? Are you interested in developing a new skill and learning how to sew? No matter what skill level you are starting from, Sharp as a Needle Sewing Class is for you! Our instructor will teach you all you need to know about the sewing machine: parts, function and how to operate. There will be different patterns and materials presented, discussed and utilized to make individual projects.

Spark your interest in ceramics. Participants bring their own supplies: paint/brushes/pieces or can purchase a piece from our selection. Seasoned participants provide insight on the techniques involved in the painting and glazing of ceramics. The focus of this class is not the forming of the ceramic piece but administering the paint and glaze to preformed ceramic pieces.

Painting With A Purpose

Are you interested in learning to paint? Our Painting with Purpose class provides participants the opportunity to experience and explore a variety of painting techniques and mediums. The instructor will guide the class in painting projects and allow them to explore their creativity by creating unique pieces of art. There will be monthly themes and related projects such as: painting by number projects, guided painting on poster as well as canvases and much more. Participants will receive a supply list to purchase their own materials (such as paint brushes, canvas, posters, and acrylic paints needed). Want to learn how to dance? This program will teach you the basics of the genres of jazz, tap, ballet and hip hop. It is open to all levels of dance skills. Bring your moves and come join us to get your groove on. A recital will be held at the end of the program to show off the dance routines learned. Muddy Buddies: A Clay Wheel Throwing Class For Beginners

This class is for those who've always wanted to touch, throw and play with clay! We will use the potter's wheel to learn how to make basic shapes used in all pottery: the cylinder and the bowl. With these two shapes, we will create and design mugs and bowls limited only by your own imagination! This class will also explore trimming and how to glaze. You will finish this fun class with your own mugs, bowls, and the experience of making art on a potter's wheel! Let’s get muddy!
