Description
The hobby of astronomy immediately brings to mind thoughts of darkened backyards and dimly-lit nighttime activities at HRPO—but patrons also have the option of visiting during daylight hours to see our parent star. Solar Cycle 25 is predicted to peak at this time. In anticipation of this Space Weather Prediction Center prediction being correct, HRPO personnel has programmed public viewing during a variety of days of the week…
July 25 + Aug. 29 + Sept. 26 + Oct. 24 + Nov. 28 + Dec. 26 / noon - 2 p.m.
Weather permitting, viewing of the Sun’s image in four different manners—transferred onto a white surface, directly with optical light, directly in hydrogen-alpha wavelength and directly via Calcium K wavelength—will take place. Protective clothing and sunscreen are recommended.
