Volunteer for a Greener East Baton Rouge Parish!

Do you love the nature around you and ever wonder how you can help?  Join us at BREC to work towards a healthier environment in your parish!

• With the help of volunteers, BREC conducts conservation focused volunteer events including trash clean-ups, invasive species removals, trail clearings and native species plantings. We have several volunteer opportunities depending on your interests and time commitment.
• In keeping with our intent to provide the best possible services, we undergo a thorough volunteer screening process. As a result, we require volunteers to fill out an application and consent to a background check.
• Registered volunteers who contribute 30 or more hours during a tax year and complete ethics training qualify for a $500 Louisiana State Income Tax deduction.

How To Get Involved

BREC’s Green Force

The Green Force program is an excellent opportunity for individuals with 15 or more hours to volunteer annually. Green Force members must complete a one-time training course to join.

Conservation Volunteer Events 

  Sign up for one (or a few) of our volunteer events throughout the year! These events are typically 4 hours on a Saturday morning.

Happening in 2026:

Tire Stack Attack

Are you TIRE-d of seeing trash dumped in our parks? Join us this winter to wrangle some wheels at Monte Sano Park, where we are remediating illegal tire dumping through the help of the Keep Louisiana Beautiful Healthy Communities Grant. Volunteers will help us stack tires to prepare them for removal -- the more hands, the better! Gloves and all necessary tools will be provided.

Spring Spruce Up

BREC Conservation would love your help getting some spring cleaning in at the pollinator garden! We'll be tidying up our beds at Howell Community Park and prepping them for the growing season by weeding, trimming back, adding new native plants, and mulching as needed. Gloves and tools will be provided.

Bash the Trash

Celebrate Love the Boot Week with us at Bayou Manchac Park, where we will be cleaning up the park and waterway to prevent pollution from moving downstream! Gloves and all necessary tools will be provided.
