Free The Forest! Volunteer Project

Help us free Forest Community Park of an invasive species! We need your help to make a dent in the plant ardisia crenata or Christmas berry, that is taking over the forest floor. We will be pulling the plant by hand to see how much we can get rid of in one day. This volunteer effort will be followed by professional treatments. All supplies provided. Do you have invasives species growing in yard that you want to learn how to get rid of? Ever wondered what is a friend and what is a foe in the jungle of your yard? Then this is the workshop for you! BREC scientists and invasive species removal professionals will be giving a in-depth look at the worst invasive plant species in the parish and how to tackle them. BREC Green Force Volunteer Training

BREC is looking to train a dedicated force of volunteers in resource management, education and programming. Learn how to help keep our habitats clean and healthy and earn rewards doing it. Only 20 volunteer hours a year commitment! Whether you want to learn more about invasive species removal, trail clearing or how to be a program or event aid, this training is for you!
