Camp BREC

Our camp opportunities are created to provide campers with an enjoyable camp experience full of exciting activities and unique fieldtrips. They will be in an inclusive atmosphere that encourages developing friendships and an array of skills. Our program includes quality activities and a chance to reconnect with old friends and meet some new ones along the way.

Camp BREC Bus Stops

This summer, Camp BREC will be offering the new transportation service for all Community Recreation camps to assist parents and guardians in getting their campers to the main camp location while also making camps more accessible to everyone in the area.

To accommodate this, we have increased the number of campers and staff at each camp. Each stop will have early pick-up times where each camper must be signed in with the staff member on the bus by a parent or guardian. Campers cannot be dropped off until the bus arrives. There will also be a set return time to the bus stop at the end of the camp day. BREC staff will be onsite to keep the camp day going until the campers are picked up by 5:30 p.m.

A bus schedule will be provided prior to the start of camp. You may also still drop off campers at the main camp location. Bus stop locations for each camp location will be listed on pages 7 + 8.

Please note: Because we will have limited camp offerings for Session 9, there will be no Bus Stops offered.

If you are interested in using this camp accommodation, you must sign up during summer camp registration.

Specialty Camps

Buckle your seatbelts for an exciting summer with our Specialty camps! We have developed eight unique weeks that will concentrate on adding fun and variety (and some learning) to the summer! We will have expert guests/instructors, field trips, crafts, and activities that support that week’s specialty. To provide quality experiences for our campers, our field trips can sometimes take place outside of East Baton Rouge Parish. The schedule including field trips is communicated the prior week in the parent email.

Adventure Island

Campers will be given an opportunity to uncover the wonders of the natural world through play, exploration, games and crafts. Your camper can expect walking, climbing, exploring, open-ended art, nature games, fishing, magical stories and lots of structured nature play during this week.

Animal Adventures

Let us crawl, growl and prowl down to BREC where we will have a ball during the animal-themed week of activities, crafts and games. During this adventurous week, there will be in-person encounters with creepy creatures and adorable animals.

Discovery Camp

This BREC STEAM camp is an exciting and immersive summer program that focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. This camp provides children and young learners with the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities, explore new modes of thinking, and develop essential skills. STEAM camps also provide a platform for children to develop important 21st-century skills such as communication, collaboration, and creativity.

Inspired by the Olympic spirit, our camp combines traditional summer camp fun with a series of challenging events like relay races, team sports and field games, while fostering a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship.
