Adult Leisure

The BREC Adult Leisure Department includes centers across the parish offering a variety of leisure activities for the adults of East Baton Rouge Parish and surrounding parishes. This department facilitates programming geared to help adults continue to lead a healthy lifestyle. Every center offers a variety of activities including crafts, sewing, ceramics, card playing, games, quilting, exercise classes and painting. Facilities also offer more physical activities such as pickle ball, volleyball, badminton and chair aerobics. Social events such as tours, tea dances and luncheons.BREC offers diverse programs widely distributed throughout East Baton Rouge Parish. All centers have supervisors who implement programs, including a variety of exercise classes, community events, arts and crafts, sports, hospitality, learning topics, tours and holiday parties.

Classic Ceramics Open Studio

Spark your interest in ceramics. Participants bring their own supplies: paint/brushes/pieces or can purchase a piece from our selection. Seasoned participants provide insight on the techniques involved in the painting and glazing of ceramics. The focus of this class is not the forming of the ceramic piece but administering the paint and glaze to preformed ceramic pieces.

Busy Bodies

Busy bodies are a program where seniors enjoy doing exercise with an instructor while using chairs, weights, strength bands, and balancing bars. This program addresses some of the major wellness components needed for optimal health. These areas include strength, flexibility, balance, cognition and nutrition.
