BREC Interim Superintendent Janet Simmons is pleased to announce the appointments of Johanna Landreneau as Interim Chief Human Resources Officer and Maurice Velasquez as Interim Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately. This exceptional leadership team brings unparalleled expertise, strategic vision, and a proven commitment to transforming BREC into a model agency for East Baton Rouge Parish.
Johanna Landreneau, a Baton Rouge native and distinguished attorney with over 30 years of legal experience, is a leader in employment law, business strategy, and organizational development. As a partner at Landreneau & Associates, she has built her career representing clients in complex civil litigation, including employment, construction, and commercial disputes, while advising executives on HR compliance, workforce development, intellectual property, and risk management.
A graduate of LSU’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where she studied Constitutional Law under former U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist, Landreneau is admitted to the Louisiana State Bar and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana. She is an active member of the Louisiana and Baton Rouge Bar Associations, holds a SHRM-CP certification, and is renowned for leading impactful seminars on employment law and executive strategy.
Maurice Velasquez has resided in Baton Rouge for over 35 years, establishing and nurturing deep community tiesthrough transformative leadership. As President of Team Real World, a leading consultancy firm, Mr. Velasquez specializes in organizational alignment, executive coaching, and operational turnarounds. His expertise has benefited several prominent organizations within the capital city, including Melara Enterprises, The Spine Hospital, The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, the Catholic Dioceses of Baton Rouge, and he has collaborated closely with the executive team at BREC.
Mr. Velasquez uniquely combines technical expertise with proven strategic methodologies to foster enhanced collaboration and deliver effective, sustainable solutions. His extensive experience and community commitment position him as a distinguished leader in the Baton Rouge business and civic landscape
