Article Body
Baton Rouge, LouisianaBREC is pleased to announce the launch of the master planning processes for the Baton Rouge Zoo and Greenwood Community Park. Two nationally-acclaimed design consultants have been selected through a competitive bid process and kickoff meetings were held in late November 2018, allowing the consultants to gain a better understanding of the sites and scope of the projects. The teams are eager to hear what the surrounding communities have to say about these public amenities.
Two identical open-house meetings offered for your convenience. Drop in any time! (Additional public meetings will be forthcoming throughout the year as the projects progress.)

How do you imagine your zoo?...Your park?
We invite you to attend one of these open-house style visioning meetings to meet BREC staff and the consultant teams who are developing new master plans for these BREC amenities. Stop by at any time during the 2-hour open-house period at the above locations and times (there will be introductory presentations repeated throughout the 2-hour time). These events are primarily listening exercises where we want to hear and take note of your ideas and preferences. Additionally, the consultants will have some basic information about the Zoo and Greenwood Park, and some great zoo and park ideas from other cities around the country to spur creativity.
It will be sort of a “show and tell”, we’ll show you some of the information and ideas we’ve got so far, but mostly – you’ll tell us what you think about these and about new ideas we’ve not yet considered. It’s YOUR zoo and park!

A public-facing web page is being developed for these projects within the brec.org site and will be announced in the near future. It will include an online engagement exercise and comment form for capturing your ideas.
