Baton Rouge, LouisianaBREC’s Annual Rainbow Trout Fishing Competition will kick off on December 19, 2025, and last through January 19, 2026. Tagged trout will be released in five select BREC conservation ponds across East Baton Rouge Parish. This beloved tradition offers residents a vibrant fishing experience and a chance to win exciting prizes by catching specially tagged fish.
This year’s stocking will take place at the following BREC parks:
- Central Sports Park
- Forest Community Park
- North Sherwood Community Park
- Perkins Community Park
- Zachary Community Park
Anglers of all ages are invited to participate in this catch-and-release event. Each participant may keep up to four Rainbow Trout per day, and those who reel in tagged fish will be eligible for prize redemption from December 19 through January 19. Please note that prize winners must hold a valid Louisiana Fishing License, and all participants are required to adhere to park and state fishing regulations.
Media Opportunity:
Fish stocking at the Central Sports Park pond is scheduled for Thursday, December 18, between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m. Media representatives are encouraged to arrive by 7:00 a.m. for optimal photo and video opportunities.
