Baton Rouge, LouisianaThe Baton Rouge Recreation Commission (BREC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nathan Tircuit as its new Athletic Director, where he will lead the continued development and launch of the East Baton Rouge Parish Youth Athletic Council.
In this role, Tircuit is responsible for convening community stakeholders, strengthening coordination among youth sports organizations, and helping guide a long-term, parish-wide strategy to expand access to safe, affordable, and high-quality youth athletic opportunities. His work emphasizes collaboration and system-building to better serve youth, families, and providers across East Baton Rouge Parish.
Tircuit brings more than 20 years of experience in senior leadership, organizational development, and community engagement. Prior to joining BREC, he served as a Senior Pastor in the Presbyterian Church in America, leading organizations through periods of transition, growth, and renewal. His experience includes strategic planning, budget oversight, staff and volunteer leadership, capital initiatives, and the development of programs serving children, youth, and families.
A lifelong athlete, Tircuit participated in recreational and high school sports and played collegiate basketball. He is also the parent of four children who have participated in recreational leagues and school athletics, providing him with a firsthand understanding of youth sports from both participant and parent perspectives.
“As Athletic Director, I am focused on advancing the Youth Athletic Council’s core priorities, including equity and access, climate-safe and indoor play options, transportation solutions, positive coaching, youth mental health, and improved coordination across parish-wide youth sports programs,” said Tircuit.
Tircuit considers Baton Rouge home, though he moved frequently during childhood as part of a military family. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Belhaven College and a Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary.
