BREC has completed an important phase in its national search for the organization’s next Superintendent, following a week of finalist interviews, meetings, and community engagement opportunities in Baton Rouge.
This week, finalists Brooks Williams, Chris Maitre, and Daniel Betts each participated in a comprehensive interview and evaluation process that included meetings with Commissioners, organizational leaders, staff, and tours of BREC facilities and East Baton Rouge Parish. The process was designed to provide both the candidates and the Commission with valuable insight into leadership fit, organizational priorities, and BREC’s vision for the future.
Yesterday, the BREC Commission conducted formal interviews with each finalist as part of the selection process. While interviews have now concluded, no final decision has been made. Commissioners will continue their discussions and deliberate further to ensure a thoughtful and thorough decision regarding BREC’s next leader.
As such, a special BREC Commission meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, during which Commissioners will further evaluate candidates and continue discussion on the Superintendent selection in an executive session.
BREC appreciates the engagement of staff, community leaders, and stakeholders throughout this process and remains committed to a transparent and deliberate selection process as the organization prepares for its next chapter.
