Baton Rouge, LouisianaMay 14, 2025BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA-May 14, 2025- As you may be aware, communities across the country, including East Baton Rouge Parish, are facing a growing homelessness crisis that is impacting public spaces, including local parks.

BREC owns the property located at 7505 Industriplex Blvd. Baton Rouge, La 70809, which has experienced ongoing challenges related to unauthorized encampments. In coordination with the City-Parish and other official partners who are better equipped to work with the homeless population, we conduct multiple evictions and clean-up efforts each year and have done so consistently over the past several years. Several of these efforts have already taken place in 2025. However, despite these ongoing actions, the site is often reoccupied within hours, making long-term progress difficult to sustain.

We have also collaborated with the Captial Area Alliance for the Homeless to deepen our understanding of this complex issue. When we encounter individuals in our parks, we strive to connect them with available services and support. In addition, we’ve worked with the Alliance over several years to explore opportunities for developing more permanent, supportive housing, including discussions related to this site. Those conversations remain active and ongoing.
