Baton Rouge, LouisianaBREC’s Liberty Lagoon Waterpark is preparing to welcome families back for a fun-filled summer as the park plans to open for the 2026 season on Saturday, May 23. The waterpark is under new management, features refreshed attractions, and boasts a renewed focus on safety and the overall guest experience.
Since opening in 2011, BREC’s Liberty Lagoon Waterpark has been a favorite summer destination for local families. Over the years, the park has grown to include popular attractions such as the Shockwave, tube slides, plunge slides, lazy river, and children’s play area. This season builds on that foundation with improvements designed to make every visit smoother, safer, and more enjoyable.
For the 2026 season, Liberty Lagoon Waterpark is advancing a strategic partnership with SELA Aquatics to strengthen operational excellence, safety standards, and workforce development within the park’s aquatics program. Following a competitive RFP process, SELA Aquatics was selected based on demonstrated expertise in aquatics management, staff training, and performance-based service delivery. Through nationally recognized American Red Cross certification programs, SELA will support the development of a highly trained, safety-focused team prepared to deliver a consistent, high-quality guest experience.
Guests will experience several enhancements throughout the park this season. All waterslides, including Shockwave, have been refreshed to deliver smoother, more enjoyable rides, and capacity levels have been thoughtfully adjusted to support a safer, more comfortable family environment. In addition, Liberty Lagoon Waterpark is introducing City Pork Catering & Events to provide elevated food and beverage options, further enhancing the overall guest experience.
Liberty Lagoon will operate daily from noon-6 p.m. through July, with closures on Tuesdays for routine staff training and facility cleaning and condensed hours of 3-6 p.m. on Wednesdays to accommodate BREC Summer Camps. In August, the park will transition to weekend-only operations through September 6.
This season also introduces a simplified admission model, with entry fees starting at $12 per person. Guests can personalize their visit with optional add-ons for waterslides and the popular Shockwave attraction, offering flexibility based on their preferred experience. Tickets are valid for single-day, one-time use. A new online ticketing platform streamlines the purchasing process, allowing families and groups to secure passes in advance or on the day of their visit.
Beyond daily recreation, Liberty Lagoon Waterpark remains committed to advancing water safety and community impact by offering discounted swim lessons throughout June and July. Classes will be scheduled before and after regular operating hours to expand access and provide affordable, high-quality water safety education for participants of all ages.
Liberty Lagoon Waterpark is building its summer team, creating meaningful employment and leadership opportunities for youth and young adults ages 15+. Competitive pay and flexible schedules support workforce development while strengthening service delivery for the community. Apply at brec.org/careers.
