News BREC Community Town Hall Meeting Added in Scotlandville

BREC Interim Superintendent Janet Simmons is hosting her final community townhall meeting on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 6 p.m. at the Anna T. Jordan Community Park located at 1750 Stilt Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70807. This meeting will be co-hosted by the Scotlandville Area Foundation and will serve as a follow-up to the series of community town hall meetings that were hosted across the cities in East Baton Rouge Parish throughout July & August.  

With new commission leadership representing all five cities in East Baton Rouge Parish—Baker, Baton Rouge, (North and South), Central, St. George and Zachary —these meetings have served as a key step in ensuring transparency, inclusion, and shared vision for the future of parks and recreation in the parish. 

These interactive meetings give the community an opportunity to meet Simmons, hear her plans firsthand, and participate in a Q&A session. The meeting will also be livestreamed for those who cannot attend in person. Light refreshments will be provided. Livestream details and updates will be shared at www.brec.org.
