Bluebonnet Swamp Education

Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center is an exciting educational opportunity for schools, educators, and scout troops in East Baton Rouge Parish, Ascension Parish, Livingston Parish, West Baton Rouge Parish and more!

Field Trips + Tours

Field trips and group tours are generally scheduled Tuesday-Friday with both $3 (Exploration Tour) and $5 (Expedition Tour) site tours from which to choose.

Exploration tours include staff-conducted live animal encounters and time for groups to explore the trails and exhibits on their own.

Expedition tours include the live animal encounters as well as a guided hike where staff will lead groups on the trails pointing out scenic features and discussing the flora and fauna of Bluebonnet Swamp.

Weekend group tours may also be scheduled (for Scouts and other groups), pending staff availability. Staff will work with teachers and group leaders to cover many special topics by request.

Community Tours

Community Tours are available Tuesday-Friday and Sunday at 2 p.m. January-May and August-December. Tours are only available on Sundays at 2 p.m. in June and July. Registration in advance is preferred due to limited availability. Email swampevents@brec.org to request a tour.

Swamp on the GEAUX!

Bring the staff and animals of Bluebonnet Swamp to YOU for special presentations when field trips are not an option.

Designed for maximum groups of 60 participants per session, in-parish fees are $60 for the first hour, $40 for the second hour, and $20 for each additional hour. An additional 20% is required for all non-parish destinations. Enjoy learning about Bluebonnet Swamp and its creatures’ features from the comfort of your own place! Great for schools, daycare centers, assisted living facilities, offices, and special group gatherings.
