Greenwood Community Park - Improvements
CYPRESS BAYOU GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT
Cypress Bayou and Greenwood Lake are prominent features within the park's landscape. The lake, typically a thriving recreational hub featuring canoeing and fishing, has suffered in recent years from sedimentation and the spread of invasive water hyacinth. To address these issues BREC is leverging funding from the Office of Community Development's Louisiana Watershed Initiative to help reduce future flood impacts to adjacent neighborhoods. To accomplish this, the lake is being deepened and expanded. Additionally, Cypress Bayou is being widened to improve flow and stability of the channel. The bayou and lake will be greatly improved for recreational activities such as paddling and fishing.
