Fishing Regulations
Please enjoy our ponds to fish and view wildlife. BREC currently maintains fishing ponds throughout the Parish. Through our partnership with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), our ponds are stocked with channel catfish and rainbow trout (winter).
REGULATIONS
Follow all Louisiana State Fishing Regulations. (LA RS 56:302)
- LDWF requires a Basic Fishing license when fishing in BREC ponds.
- Everyone over the age of 18 is required to carry a basic fishing license.
- Know the size and number of fish you can keep. For more info: wlf.louisiana.gov
- Fishing is allowed from the bank and non-motorized boats where appropriate.
- No trotlines, seines, or cast netting.
BE A RESPONSIBLE ANGLER
- Be aware of other anglers and be courteous.
- Report violations to Operation Game Thief, 800-442-2511.
- Keep only those fish that you plan to eat. Carefully release unwanted or under-sized fish.
- Properly dispose of all fishing line, bait containers, fish remains and other trash. Look for the white PVC pipe to recycle your fishing line.
- It is illegal to transfer or introduce live fish, other animals, and aquatic plants to BREC ponds.
- Share your fishing knowledge and skills with others to grow the next generation of anglers!
HOURS OF OPERATION
- Open seven days a week, from dawn to dusk.
- The Hartley/Vey Sports Park Pond is open to the public only when BREC is hosting a softball league game or tournament.
- For fishing in BREC ponds, you do not need a special license, just a basic fishing license from the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
