Loose Ends

Let BREC Art help with the mid-week slump! Twice a month, Baringer Art Center will open its doors to the creative world of art! Dance, music, artsy games, art films and discussions and visual art will be part of this ongoing series. Classes will vary from week to week and will not repeat. Tea Time: Paint + Mixed Media on Canvas

Participants will join professional illustrator and art educator, Holly Stone-Barker, as they create a vibrant and unique teacup and teapot on canvas. By painting paper and using paints and different liquid mediums, this finished piece will impress more than just those who sip tea! Mondays / Sept. 12 + 19 + 26 + Oct. 3 / 10-11:30 a.m. Cost: $55 EBR Parish residents $66 out-of-parish residents

Art UnWined

Tired of the same ol’paint and drink?! If so, then check out BREC’s adult-only, fun and creative grown-up time outs. Each of these classes are designed to encourage and inspire while enjoying beverages and nibbles. All art supplies, nibbles and adult (or not) beverages included. Great for friend get-togethers, bridal parties, corporate team building or just making new friends! Private ART UnWINEd bookings are also available. Must be 21 to join the fun. This Fall’s Art UnWined themes have something for everyone! Saturdays / Sept. 16 + Nov. 11 + Dec. 2 / 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 16: Folk Art Rabbits This class was inspired by images of Folk Art woodland creatures. Folk Art is a representation of a specific time and culture and is often associated with folklore. Students will use mixed media to create a pair of sweet bunnies that bring to mind fairy tales and stories of the imagination. Cheese, fruit and wine will be served. Nov. 11: Clementine Hunter / Zinnias in a Pot Ms. Hunter was a self-taught artist from the Cane River region of Louisiana. Her compositions include scenes she was familiar with such as outdoor activities and still-life works of everyday objects. We will paint one of her favorite flowers, Zinnias, in her folklife style. Jambalaya, beer, and wine will be served. Dec. 2: Holiday Card Collage Join us for an evening of holiday cheer and card making using painted papers, unique findings and watercolors. No matter how you celebrate, you can create cards to share how you celebrate the season. Spiked wassail and holiday sweets will be served. $45 EBR Parish residents $54 out-of-parish residents
