Extreme Sports

The Extreme Sports Department consists of the Velodrome, rock climbing wall, three skate parks, BMX track, air gun range, disc golf courses and mountain bike trails. Perkins Road Community Park amenities include a 30,000 square foot concrete skate park, BMX track, a rock climbing wall, a community playground, tennis court and walking paths. BREC’s BMX track facility hosts birthday parties and weekly races. The Jean Lafitte Air Gun Range houses two field courses and a covered site-in range. BREC’s disc golf courses at Highland Road Community Park, Greenwood Community Park, Flanacher Park, and Scotlandville Park are 18-hole courses

The skatepark at Perkins Road Community Park is a 30,000 square foot, concrete skatepark built by California Skateparks and accommodates both skateboards and bicycles as well as scooters, inline skates, and rollerskates.

BREC also offers smaller community modular skateparks. These parks are open free to the public from sunrise to sunset.

Velodrome

The Velodrome is a 333-meter smooth concrete cycling track and one of only 25 in the United States. Cyclists can reach up to 35 mph during competition. Helmets are required.

Summer Slam

Roll into Summer Slam with us and enjoy a day-long celebration of the end of summer at the Skatepark! Come join us for music, food, fun, and extremely good riding. Beginning at 3 p.m. the park will get blasted with non-stop music as well as have food vendors until 7 p.m.

Skateboarding Academy

Do you want to learn to skateboard? Then join us for Skateboarding Academy! Over four weeks our staff will teach the fundamentals of skateboarding, from balance, board control, transition riding, ollies, and more. This class meets consecutively over a four-week period, so you have time each week to practice the lessons from each class and grow your skills. This class is open to skaters at any skill level. Our instructors meet the skater where they're at and will be there to guide riders with general coaching based on their personal abilities. BREC will provide all equipment necessary.
