Baton Rouge, LouisianaAs part of its on-going process to obtain feedback from the community regarding the City-Brooks Community Park Master Plan, BREC is inviting residents to participate in a dedicated community feedback meeting on July 14 from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at BREC’s Independence Theater located at 7800 Independence Boulevard. The focus will be on hearing directly from the public about the future of one of Baton Rouge's most well-known parks.
The June open house provided residents with an opportunity to review draft concepts, recommendations, and planning ideas developed as part of the City-Brooks Park Master Plan process. Community interest in the project exceeded expectations, with hundreds of residents attending to learn more about the vision and possibilities for the park. This next meeting in July will center on community voices. Residents can provide comments, share concerns, ask questions, and offer feedback directly to BREC commissioners, leadership, and staff.
To ensure everyone has an opportunity to review the materials, the June 11th presentation can be found here. BREC has also posted all other project meeting presentations and project information online for public access here.
"City-Brooks Community Park belongs to the community, and we want to make sure residents have every opportunity to share their thoughts before any decisions are made," said Janet Simmons, Interim Superintendent of BREC. "The strong turnout at the open house demonstrated how much people care about this park, and we are committed to continuing a transparent and inclusive process."
All public comments and recommendations will be reviewed, as the BREC Commission considers the future vision and makes final decisions regarding the plan.
