Forest Community Park
Beginning Monday, October 11, the playground at Forest Community Park will be closed for repairs. We expect to reopen the playground on Monday, October 18. We apologize for any inconvenience but safety is our top priority.

115.62 Acres - This park is located in the southeastern part of East Baton Rouge Parish. Forest Community Park serves a larger geographic area than a neighborhood park and is designed to engage the entire family for a whole day. Higher levels of maintenance, security, and recreational opportunities are offered at community parks. BREC reopened the park in 2010. It features re-defined vehicular and pedestrian circulation throughout the park while improving upon the existing baseball/softball fields and the recreation center.
Forest Community Park has two pavilions available to rent. Pavilion 1 is 18’x 24’ with 3 tables, a capcity of 25, and electrical capabilities. Pavilion 2 is 20' x 24' with 3 tables and a capacity of 25 For more information about renting this pavilion, visit the Pavilion Rentals Page.
Raising Canes Dog Park
Everyone has a howling good time at the second Raising Canes' Dog Park to open in the parish. Rules and regulations for dogs and their humans are at the entry gate.
Hours of Operation: Sunrise to sunset
BREC offers bank fishing only, no motorized boats. No trout lines. Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries laws must be followed.

Soft peat gravel walking and running trails are located throughout the park.
A large community playground hosts a variety of slides, equipment and climbing aparatus on artifical footing. No more sandy shoes or bottoms! Parents are welcome to join in the play or sit comfortably nearby to watch their child interact with other children.
All BREC Splash Pads are open from April-October.
The splash pad is an interactive water play area with no standing water. This splash pad is activated with the green push button on the light blue pole in the splash pad area.
Spray features will run for approximately 2-3 minutes and turn OFF. Pushing the button will re-engage the system.
The renovated Tennis Center features a pro shop and 11 lighted tennis courts. Get more information about this center at the Forest Park Tennis Center Page.

Get your costumes ready! Come out and enjoy an evening filled with family fun entertainment as BREC, Ochsner Health and BREC Foundation host Full Moon Fete + Trunk & Treat. This is a SPOOKendous event you don’t want to miss. MOVIES + LIVE MUSIC (Peyton Falgoust Band) + TRUNK & TREAT TRAIL + CHARACTER VISITS + GIVEAWAYS + MORE! Donations will benefit recreation programs support by the BREC Foundation.
Trunk + Treat
Sponsored by Ochsner Health, BREC Foundation’s Trunk and Treat event returns to Forest Community Park where children of all ages are invited to put on their favorite costumes and stroll from trunk to trunk collecting plenty of Halloween treats! Live music by the Peyton Falgoust Band. Event free of charge. Donations will benefit recreation programs supported by the Foundation.
Through a partnership with The ARC Baton Rouge, Special Olympics and BREC we are offering an inclusive league for participants age three and older, with and without disabilities. These noncompetitive, recreational based sports leagues will teach the fundamentals of sports, while enjoying social interaction as a team.
