Howell Community Park
114.36 Acres - This park is located in the mid-west part of East Baton Rouge Parish. Howell Community Park serves a larger geographic area than a neighborhood park and is designed to engage the entire family for a whole day. Higher levels of maintenance, security, and recreational opportunities are offered at community parks.This is one of BREC's oldest parks. It is one of BREC's busiest parks, due in large part to the number of facilities available.
Large sections of this park are currently under construction as part of the Imagine Your Parks 2 strategic plan.
Picnic Facilities and Rental Pavilions
Howell Community Park has three pavilions available to rent. Pavilion 1 is 30’ x 50’ with 8 tables, a capacity of 65, and electrical capabilities. Pavilion 2 is 18’ x 34’ with 3 tables and a capacity of 25 with electrical capabilities. Pavilion 3 is 18’ x 34’ with 3 tables, a capacity of 3, and electrical capabilities. The large playground is a space-themed playground complete with a rocket-ship climbing aparatus. Kids love it! Parents can relax while watch the kids play or get in the fun themselves.

Geaux Fish Catfish Rodeo
Grab your fishing pole and head out with the family to GEAUX Fish! Our Geaux Fish Rodeos are a great opportunity to introduce new anglers to the sport of fishing or for the old veteran to test their skills. We will be stocking the pond with adult channel catfish to ensure you have plenty to catch and prizes galore.
Urban Nature Hike Series: Howell
Interested in exploring the nature oasis next door or looking to take your neighborhood walks to the next level? Our Urban Hike series is a great start! Geared toward nature novices of all ages, participants will enjoy a leisurely walk through a BREC park while learning some fun facts about the park’s natural areas and the fundamentals of adventuring in the great outdoors.
